Found this a rare 1951 BMW R51/3 Police Motorcycle in Craigslist, is one excellent collector's bike in remarkable condition being offered for sold by current owner looking for $29800. The bike has been fully restored four years ago still in great and only 400 miles since done. Owner says
For Sale: a rare 1951 BMW R51/3 with a 500 cc opposed twin engine. This motorcycle went through a ground up restoration in the Spring of 2013, including crank rebuild, new pistons and valves, transmission rebuild and rear-end rebuild, and much, much more. During the restoration process it was discovered that the original paint on the chassis was green. Further research confirmed that it was a former "Polizeimotorrad" -- German police motorcycle from the city of Mannheim. It is an excellent running motorcycle with beautiful paint. Bike has only been driven 400 miles since the restoration. Currently registered, title in hand.
